Where are those wild things

October 10, 2009

Where-The-Wild-Things-Are_476x357I know exactly where all the wild kids were on Wednesday night. They were at the screening of Where the Wild Things Are, hosted by 826 Seattle, the Northwest Film Forum and Delicious Monster. 826 is an incredible Seattle organization that inspires students age 6 on up to explore their creative writing skills. Dave Eggers and Max Records were on hand for the screening to answer Q&A and inspire young and old to believe in their creative abilities and write write write. Details were below if you missed the big event. Don’t forget to check out all the great events at NWFF and sign up for Delicious Monster services. Such happy stuff.

Where the Wild Things Are

Based on the beloved book by Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are is an adventure for every generation, a classic story about childhood and the places we go to figure out the world we live in. Opening nationwide October 16, 2009, the film is directed by Spike Jonze and stars Max Records, Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, Chris Cooper, James Gandolfini, Catherine O’Hara and Forest Whitaker.

Screenwriter Dave Eggers is the bestselling author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, What is the What, and Zeitoun. He is also founder of the independent publishing house McSweeney’s and 826 National, a family of seven nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping students, ages 6 to 18, with expository and creative writing. His screenwriting credits also include the recent release Away We Go, which he co-wrote with Vendela Vida.
